Greyhound Commercial's reputation as the mining industry's premier coach service has been confirmed by winning the inaugural BHP Billiton Olympic Dam, Vendor of the Year Award for 2008.
The Award was a tremendous honour considering how many companies provide services for the multinational company.
Greyhound became the sole carrier for BHP Billiton at its Olympic Dam site last year, taking workers to and from accommodation villages and work, as well as from town to town, this Award proves we have delivered a service that is unparalleled.
Greyhound won the title because we take pride in our safety, customer responsiveness, contract transition and start-up, delivery performance, equipment standard, staff culture and community support.
The longest run we do is about 500 kilometres and all up the BHP Billiton Olympic Dam contract means Greyhound covers more than 1,000,000 kilometres each year for the mining giant.
In addition to the scheduled services we provide BHP Billiton Olympic Dam extra vehicles for mine maintenance activities, unscheduled charters and any further ground transport needs the customer requires.
Greyhound's service includes 13 vehicles permanently on site, with additional assets relocated as needed to support added requirements as well as a unique website for BHP Billiton Olympic Dam employees and contractors to access and book their trips.
